“West Coast Academy has been a great experience for our son and it has been a rewarding and positive year for all of us.”

-Victoria Holland

West Coast Academy has been a great experience for our son and it has been a rewarding and positive year for all of us. There is excellent communication from his teacher, he is challenged in the classroom and most importantly he enjoys going to school. We appreciate how committed both Coach Dean and Coach Kevin are to the boys’ success both on and off the ice. Our son has become a stronger and more confident player through both the on ice and dryland activities.  As a mom I love the uniforms and I keep hearing about how great the lunches are!  We are honored to be a part of the first year at West Coast Academy.

“This is a great program. You can easily evaluate how productive the program is by the performance of the team and each individual player.”

-Neil Ni

“This is a great program. Coaches, players and the teacher make the perfect combination.

What I would love to share here is the school experience. My seventh grader got good results in all the standard tests he took in last several months including SSAT, SAT, and MAP.

Hockey speaks by itself. You can easily evaluate how productive the program is by the performance of the team and each individual player.”

“Our son Will’s experience at West Coast Academy has far exceeded our expectations. As expected the hockey training has been excellent. Will has learned the commitment it takes to blend hockey and school to become a complete student-athlete.”

-Mike Urtel

Our son Will’s experience at West Coast Academy has far exceeded our expectations. We were very confident that Dean and Kevin would provide a hockey development program that would be unmatched in terms of quality of instruction and thoughtfulness in planning. We were less certain in how everything that was not hockey related would meld together into a full day of hockey, schooling and off-ice training.

As expected the hockey training has been excellent. Will has improved his technical skills as well as develop more confidence as a player. He’s gained greater insight and developed a deeper knowledge of the game. Together, this skill set has allowed him to watch hockey in a more advanced way that has helped him improve as a player. What has been a pleasant surprise is the academy format has provided a setting that allows Will to complete his school work and play a full travel hockey schedule without the need for late night and weekend homework sessions. In addition to the hockey and schooling, the off-ice aspects of the academy have been something we may have undervalued. I no longer overlook the importance of this part of the academy. Will has been exposed to how better to prepare his body through training, nutrition and sleep. He has met and listened to all types of professionals from all parts of the game – referees, agents, trainers, players. This has offered him first-hand knowledge on what it takes to become an elite player and more importantly a successful person. As we take stock of Will’s growth during his time at the academy, a few things standout. First, Will has learned the commitment it takes to blend hockey and school to become a complete student-athlete. He has gained an understanding that a hockey player is more than what happens during a game. I’d describe it as a more mature and well-rounded approach to training and being a good teammate. Lastly, Will loves every minute of the Academy and there’s no place in the world he would rather be.

“The balance between hockey and school has made Max a better, more disciplined and responsible student.”

-Shane Holland

The time Dean and Kevin spend with Max on and off the ice has been invaluable to our son’s development as a player and as a young man.  The balance between hockey and school has made Max a better, more disciplined and responsible student.  Amy is amazing and constantly checking in to keep us informed of Max’s progress.  We’re so extremely grateful and fortunate to have had the opportunity to be a part of West Coast Academy.  It’s one of the best hockey decisions we’ve ever made and Max loves it!

“It’s a pleasure to see how much Aidan has developed as a complete hockey player on the ice and a well-rounded young man off the ice.”

Albert & Lina Yi

Aidan loves the West Coast Academy. Every day he wakes up and looks forward to going to school and being with his classmates. He describes them as his hockey brotherhood and enjoys the daily camaraderie of training and studying together. It’s a pleasure to see how much Aidan has developed as a complete hockey player on the ice and a well-rounded young man off the ice. Coach Caban and Coach Bieksa have created a unique environment to support the pursuit of elite hockey development and Aidan’s dreams to play at the highest level. Their passion, expertise, character, mentorship, and commitment to excellence every single day has been a powerful influence in shaping our son. We are fortunate to have Coach Bieksa and Coach Caban know Aidan so well and take a personal interest and approach to help him be the best student, friend, teammate and hockey player that he can be. We are proud to be a part of the WCA family.
